Perfect World - Chapter 553 - Chapter 553: Chapter 553: Venerable Turtle
Chapter 553: Chapter 553: Venerable Turtle
“Bring the wine…” Accompanied by snoring sounds, this creature’s blood surged vigorously, and its body was exceptionally strong; even at a distance, one could feel its robust life force.
“What’s happening?” asked Shi Hao.
Nine Spirit Emperor’s expression wasn’t very pleasant as he glanced at the ancient cave, his pale golden long hair fluttering.
The nine-headed lion Jin Hong spoke through clenched teeth, “He has come to our realm to select the strong, intending to take them back to the higher realms to serve as Divine Mounts for the Sacred Entities.”
Xiao Tian, Xia Youyu, and others were shocked by these words. Indeed, it aligned with the rumors that the Divine Spirits had a special fondness for the golden lion race as their mounts. But for this race, it was a sign of indignity, a race with infinite potential, how could they accept this?
If it weren’t for the Nine Spirit Emperor having just become a Venerable One, incapable of contending with those Venerables of the higher realms, an outbreak would have occurred a long time ago. With the nature of this race, they wouldn’t have tolerated this situation until now.
“Wake him up, do they really think the Lower Realm is their garden and livestock farm, desiring whatever catches their eye and thinking they can take it by force?” Shi Hao naturally intended to intervene.
Not to mention his deep friendship with the nine-headed lions; even if the relationship was ordinary, he would lend a hand, for he had no good feelings towards these beings from the higher realms.
The ancient cave was deep and was a treasured land, usually the seclusion spot for the Nine Spirit Emperor, with the Underground Stone Milk gushing forth. Although it was just a small puddle, it was a natural Spiritual Medicine.
Moreover, the cave contained the rare Golden Spirit Qi, continuously emitting golden light, which made it the ideal place for the golden lion race to cultivate.
Upon entering the ancient cave dwelling, Shi Hao was immediately astonished.
He saw the Venerable One who had come from the higher realms, imposing and domineering, reveling in wine and meat all day long. It was actually a giant turtle!
It lay on its back, its belly shimmering white, and its shell flickering with black and gold luster, sprawled out in an undignified manner.
Shi Hao was truly at a loss for words, encountering such a giant turtle in this posture was indeed quite unique and beyond his expectations.
He had originally thought he would be dealing with a vicious and brutal creature, yet, here was a drunken turtle!
Being a Venerable One, as soon as everyone approached, it woke up, but still with its eyes closed, it mumbled, “Nine Spirit Emperor, you’ve just had your breakthrough; don’t seek trouble. Go bring all the most fragrant wines of your clan here, or don’t blame me for being impolite!”
The giant turtle threatened. While speaking, it still kept its eyes shut, stretching out a large paw to grab a Bronze Cauldron, scooping water from the Stone Milk puddle, and gulped down a good amount with a hissing sound.
Shi Hao raised his hand, condensing a golden handprint in the void and pressing it down.
“Eh?”
In an instant, the giant turtle zoomed backwards, opening its eyes and feeling the danger. It stood up, looking like it was carrying a black pot on its back, and stared at Shi Hao.
“Who are you?” It was extremely cautious and asked loudly.
“I’m here to collect you!” Shi Hao pressed forward, wearing the Undying Golden Body Battle Clothes that twinkled with a dark light.
“Young man, do you know who I am?” The giant turtle glared, bellowing loudly in an arrogant manner.
“Aren’t you just a turtle?” Shi Hao sneered, raising his hand again as his palm transformed into golden yellow, and with a buzzing sound, he quickly pushed forward, generating terrifying fluctuations.
Surprisingly agile, the giant turtle stood on its two feet, swiftly retreating without engaging in a direct confrontation.
The Nine Spirit Emperor, Xia Youyu, and everyone else retreated, leaving the cave. A clash between Venerables was bound to be frightening, easily collapsing entire mountain ranges.
“How audacious! You don’t kneel upon seeing this deity! I come from the higher realms, how dare you offend me!” chided the giant turtle.
“A turtle dares to speak so presumptuously? I’ve extinguished gods, let alone you!” Shi Hao’s golden palm print condensed, this time filling the void and slowly pressing down.
“Great beings who have ignited divine flames came to the Lower Realm; who could capture them? Do not speak carelessly.” The giant turtle reprimanded.
Shi Hao remained silent. He felt that this creature must be drunk, lost in inebriation and unaware of the happenings of the outside world.
“Boom!”
The golden handprint split the air, echoing with a thunderous roar.
The giant turtle changed color, its body shimmering with characters, producing a tortoiseshell shield, radiant and crystal clear, that blocked the golden palm print.
“Dang!”
The sound resonated like a divine bell, echoing through the mountains, ringing in everyone’s ears with immense strength.
The giant turtle grunted, staggered back but remained unharmed.
Shi Hao was moved. His golden palm print was incredibly powerful; how could any ordinary Venerable withstand it and not be blasted apart?
The turtle’s defensive power was astonishing. The shield was indomitable and enduring, holding up against Shi Hao’s heaven-defying strength, blocking his mighty physique.
The turtle was very fast, turning into a black and white shadow, breaking through the cave wall and rushing out, fast as lightning. It was attempting to flee.
“Come back!” Shi Hao bellowed, chasing after it with the Kun Peng Movement Technique, blocking its path.
The giant turtle spat out a mass of dark light that transformed into water containing eighteen bone beads, each a radiant green, lighting up together to suppress Shi Hao.
Shi Hao flicked his fingers, producing Sword Qi that pierced the heavens, each strike hitting the bone beads. At the same time, he released an ocean-like surge of blood energy, roaring loudly, striking at the giant turtle.
“Dang,” “Dang”…
The sounds were deafening; the giant turtle had a tough carapace, retracting its head into its shell, not daring to show itself.
With a bang, Shi Hao used his Kun Peng strength to fortify his body, which turned golden yellow. His palm strike finally made the giant turtle unable to hold on.
“Stop, let’s talk!”
Shi Hao clapped, and although the impact was cushioned by the turtle’s shell, it still made it cough blood, instilling it with fear.
“I surrender!” The turtle was utterly spineless, cowering in its shell and making a ruckus, signaling its submission, and had already put away its eighteen azure bone beads.
Shi Hao had no intention of taking its life. As this fellow was so durable, keeping it by his side was not a bad idea, and it was the perfect opportunity to ask about the matters of the higher realms.
Before Shi Hao could even speak, the turtle rattled off everything like a string of popping beans.
Everyone was stunned; the creature was truly too afraid of death.
“I come from Purple Mansion Mountain, where the master is known as the Six-Armed Taoist. I am a Xuan Turtle that was raised outside the mountain gate’s Spirit Pool. A carassius fish within the pool was supposed to descend to the Lower Realm to find a few mountable creatures for the sect, but I longed for the glories of the mortal world and wanted to show off, so I volunteered to take its place.”
There was no need to question it; it “spilled the beans” without any prodding.
The Six-Armed Taoist had made an appearance. During the second great calamity, he hunted gods and captured Venerables, even stepping into the Western Sect to terrify and induce the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body’s appearance to confront him.
It was rumored that the decline of the Six-Armed Taoist’s teachings in the Lower Realm was related to the Western Sect.
“Seeing as you can run quite fast, you’ll be my mount from now on,” Shi Hao said.
“I am just a turtle. Although I have learned some techniques to ride the wind, I am… unsuitable to be a mount,” the black turtle cried out.
Shi Hao’s chest bone radiated light, casting a series of characters onto it, instantly shrinking the turtle to the size of a palm, which made it shriek desperately.
Shi Hao grabbed its tail and lifted it upside down, saying, “If you don’t behave, I’ll stew you!”
“I’m the most well-behaved!” the big black turtle declared, thumping its chest.
“From now on, your name is Three Black,” Shi Hao gave it a name.
Nine Spirit Emperor, Xiao Tian, Xia Youyu, and others were speechless. This turtle was not like a Venerable One, and this person’s way of naming was truly unreliable.
The black turtle naturally grumbled; it did not like this unlucky name and protested.
“Great red bird, second baldy, Three Black, the names line up just like that. Sounds good, doesn’t it? You’ll have to like it even if you don’t,” Shi Hao threatened.
The black turtle was crestfallen. What kind of dreadful names were these? If it knew there was also a Zhuyan called hairy ball and a little white, it would be even more dumbfounded. This young man was not adept at naming!
Recruiting this turtle was a great gain for Shi Hao, as he was about to head to the higher realms. Many things could be inquired of it.
“You’re planning to leap out of this ‘well’ and take the Sky Ascension Path?” the nine-headed lion exclaimed.
“I came here specifically to say goodbye to you,” Shi Hao nodded.
“When the time comes, I’ll bring the Flame Crow, Five-colored Phoenix Bird, and the rest to see you off,” the nine-headed lion spoke sorrowfully, also longing for the higher realms.
“Good, it’ll be a chance to see these old friends,” Shi Hao nodded.
Southern Meteor Divine Mountain, known as the Divine Hidden Land, was inhabited by ancient Divine Spirits. It was a forbidden area in the wasteland, more terrifying than the usual Primordial Divine Mountain.
Shi Hao bid farewell to the nine-headed lion and took Xiao Tian, Yan Xin, and others with him to the mountain. They sat on a black turtle, using it as their means of transportation.
“Is this mountain a bit uncanny? Can we enter it?” Zhou Yuhao was apprehensive.
Ahead, the mountain range was treacherous, the peaks majestic, and the ranges expansive, enveloped in clouds and mist, as if shrouded by white Immortal Qi.
“Times have changed,” Shi Hao said, having the Xuan Turtle carry everyone as they charged inward.
The mountain was shrouded in fog, thick and hazy. Once inside, it was easy to get lost and unable to find the way back.
Shi Hao brought out his War Chariot, rumbling thunderously – a Divine Artifact. It tread through the mist, and the Divine Striking Stone in his hair radiated light, familiar with Arrays, offering guidance.
On the beautiful peaks were ancient trees with entrenched roots and strange rocks standing tall, with silver waterfalls cascading down.
But the fog was too thick, giving off a hazy appearance, which further added to the mystery and Immortal Dao Aura.
“Ah…” A long, old sigh sounded.
Everyone was startled; suddenly hearing this voice in the quiet Forbidden Land made their skin crawl.
Shi Hao was calm, without any reaction, standing on the back of the big black turtle and looking forward.
“Little friend, you have indeed come. I knew it; cause leads to effect,” the old voice sounded again.
“Advance a hundred paces then turn left, climb that mountain peak,” Shi Hao instructed the Xuan Turtle.
The fog parted, and a towering black mountain appeared before them, oppressive. Everyone ascended without hindrance.
An elder appeared on the mountaintop, his white hair like snow, his body stooped, leaning on a Qingmu staff, his eyes cloudy, and his skin lax, lacking vitality.
Behind him were over a dozen old graves, overgrown with weeds, appearing desolate.
Shi Hao noticed that the elder had recently burned paper there, offering sacrifices to the ancient graves.
“These are…” Xia Youyu stared uncertainly at the grave mounds.

“This is the Divine Hidden Land. Naturally, it houses gods, all ancient beings who lived on from bygone times, but one by one, they passed on,” the elder sighed deeply, pointing towards the dozen or so grave mounds.
A glint flashed in Shi Hao’s eyes. He didn’t expect to be greeted in such a manner upon arriving at Southern Meteor Divine Mountain, being led to an ancient place where Divine Spirits were buried. What did this mean?
