Beer blossomed from there and went pro, dropping a string of singles that began in 2015. But her first big splash arrived when she put her emotions up front in last year’s “Selfish,” which was built on the “honesty and vulnerability” of real romantic events. Fans reacted to the candor, and this Tame Impala zealot, who also made a dent with 2020’s grown-up track “BOYSHIT,” bolstered both her music’s depth and impact. Leveling-up is fun to watch.
